Focusing on maps and mapping, this volume starts by explaining what maps are and why they are used. From making a simple plan of a room, the book proceeds to introduce individual features of a map, such as scale, contours and the use of colour and symbols. It then looks at the way in which cartographers work, using compasses, map grids, and latitude and longititude.
