Aimed at early years practitioners, this title shows how it is possible to create eight learning environments in the corner of a room. These are a jewellery shop, travel agents, vet's surgery, florists, seaside cafe, post office, library and toy shop. For each setting there are activities linked to the Government's Areas of Learning for under-fives, covering language and literacy, Mathematics, personal and social development, knowledge and understanding of the world, physical and creative development. The introduction explains how to convert the home corner area and gives tips on using adult helpers, safety, observation and assessment. Six photocopiable sheets are included which provide useful extension and reinforcement ideas.
